Notes:
New Zealand Botanical Society Newsletter, 87, March 2007, pp. 12-13.Hebe species 'Te Moana' is conspicuous when flowering in early January. It appears to be confined to a narrow corridor in rocky places and bluffs alongside or near the South Branch of the Hae Hae Te Moana River and two tributaries, Griffiths Stream and Fraser Stream, above 300 m altitude and below 500 m, but because almost all of the plants grow on private land it is very difficult to determine the extent of its distribution. Probably confined to Te Moana Gorge, is a more-or-less intermediate between H. traversii and H. rakaiensis, as a result of spontaneous hybridisation between these two, and has become "fixed". D. Rooney, 2007.
