Habitat:
Growing on near-vertical cliff beside Putiki Drive. Growing on west aspect, very sunny and dry; substrate a cemented gravel/clay - probably original river-cliff of the river before road construction, some 15 m tall.
Notes:
Plant Register ID: 2004/468This cactus growing from 3 m above road level to 10 m above road - patch some 2-4 m wide. Houses at top of the cliff - probably the cactus is an escape or discard from there. Other vegetation with the cactus is of short stature and sparse - Ehrharta erecta, Crassula multicava, Vinca major, sparse clumps of 1-2 m Lycium ferrocissimum.
