Notes:
c.fr.; largest capsules 9-10 mm Ø [diameter], bright red-orange when freshshallow pool ringed by coarse sandstone and adjacent to coal measures; edge of small Carpha - Empodisma hummocks in pool c. < 5 cm deep and < 2 m Ø [diameter]; w [with] few plants Campylopus introflexus, Wijkia extenuata, Riccardia australis, Leucobryum candidum and atypical Dicranoloma robustum.Ca 30 sporophytes located after searching for c. 1 hr on terraces in Webb Stream catchment; a second colony of 200-300 sporophytes (AJF 11795) located en route back to road end.Photographed for publication.I believe all capsules here are result of fertilization in spring of the current growing season.The spores in the one capsule dissected are broadly oval and 36-45 µm in greater diam. [diameter], ± smooth, and filled w [with] numerous (40 or more) globose, oily bodies, 4-11 µm diameter.
