Habitat:
Chionochloa pallens + Aciphylla ferox + Phormium cookianum + Hebe glaucophylla / Pittosporum rigidum + Celmisia spectabilis low shrubland on shoulder of hill.
Notes:
Plants with 1-5 (-10) rosettes per plant, 1-3(-6) spikes per female plant. Plants 60-98 cm diameter. Spikes 80, 98, 142 cm long. Leaves glaucous when young, losing the coating in old leaves, some plants not glaucous at all. No flowering seen at all this year. Plants rarely seen on open marble scree, usually in low scrub and tussock shrubland.
