Habitat:
A dense population on 1-2 hectares of a dry waterbed.- Only seen here and in an area of 5 km along the road, mostly populations of scattered individuals in dry (sheep) pastures.
Notes:
Individuals mainly multicaulous and 1-1.5 m tall (smaller onestemmed ones also present), growing in both dense clumps and as scattered plants. The thistle is here associated with Echium, Verbascum and Reseda species. Plants from New Zealand P. Hein & K. HalderCollection in CHR, duplicate in B.
