Grown for comparison with C. ustulatus. Lacks dark brown markings at base of involucral bracts and top of culm, glumes light green with brownish margin, and rays branched. Note that the seeds are infected with Bauerago gardneri (Eric McKenzie pers. comm 23 Feb 2004).
