Notes:
Shrub or young tree < 2 m high, evergreen. Leaves pale green beneath. Flowers fragrant (port wine scent like M. figo). Bud scales brown pubescent. Petals of outer whorl 5, each c. 4.5 x 3 cm, broad elliptic-obovate white, flushed purple towards base & apex; those of inner whorl c. 6, shorter & narrower. Stamens margined purple.
