Habitat:
Steep rocky site. Emergent scattered matai and red beech over a lower canopy including putaputaweta, lemonwood, red beech, Coprosma grandifolia and C. propinqua. Shrub layer includes pate, mahoe, broadleaf, makomako, and C. grandifolia. Ground layer distinguished by an abundance of Astelia fragrans and Asplenium oblongifolium. Other ground plants include Uncinia uncinata, Pneumatopteris pennigera, Leptopteris hymenophylloides, Polystichum richardii, Blechnum chambersii, and Stellaria parviflora.
Notes:
Cardamine appears to be confined to rocks where it grows in the bryophyte layer covering boulders and rocky surfaces. Growing along about 200m of track, not seen elsewhere.
