Habitat:
Gentle hill slope, west aspect. In base of hollow Olearia gardneri tree, fenced off from stock. Ungrazed pasture with sparse shrubs: Dactylis glomerata/Holcus lanatus - Agrostis capillaris (Main shrub sp = Coprosma wallii).

Notes:
Fruit. Spikelets 2 flowered, glumes slightly unequal (lower smaller), scabrid on keels, acuminate. Lemma > glumes, acute, keeled, slightly scabrid at tip. Callus of tangled hairs, attached to 'seed'. Leaves folded, scabrid at tip, glabrous except for fine pubescence at lamina - sheath junction. Ligule entire, not ciliate.
