Habitat:
This is one of the islands windswept from the Pacific westerlies, but the inlet was quite sheltered and the trees full forest height.
Notes:
Collected during the cruise of yacht Stokes in the northern canales of Patagonian Chile during August-November 2001.Identified by Dr Ramirez, Botany Department, University of Valdivia, in January 2002.The bush was about one metre high and near the base of a short bank at the water's edge. This was the only time I saw this candelabra-like species.Identified from David M Moore Flora of Tierra del Fuego Oswestry, Anthony Nelson/Missouri Garden 1983. ISBN 090461 4050.
