Notes:
Plants scattered across salt meadow developed over Chatham schist cobble beaches and associated wave cut platform surmounted with rock stacks. Plants stout up to 2 m diameter, arising from turnip like, multiciple branched deeply tap-rooted woody rootstock up to 0.3 m diam. Branches 1-10 per plant, woody at base, purple-red, completely decumbent and appressed to substrate. Rosette leaves withered and/or absent at flowering. Cauline leaves appressed to substrate,yellow-green to dark green, lamina margins deeply, though finely serrated. Inflorescences near branchlet apices (branchlets spreading, appressed). Flowers bearing two stamens only. Petals white, prominent. Silicles suborbicular to orbicular when mature, turgid.
Growing in association with Sarcocornia, Apium, Samolus and Triglochin, occasionally admixed with (but generally avoiding) Hebe chathamica mats.
