Notes:
One flowering and fruiting adult and one sapling growing on the root plate of kowhai tree on the margin of a small ephmeral flood pool in a kahikatea- kowhai - cabbage tree alluvial forest remnant. Adult spindly 2.2m tall; leaves adaxially dark green suffused maroon, abaxially paler and less obviously tinged maroon; lamina margin finely dentate (denticles yellow); Leaf bud maroon tinged, without sinus; inflorescences erect; racemes not white; capsules rather large. Plant close to Hebe aff. bishopiana (H. "swamp") of Hikurangi Swamp area but need to be further critically investigated.
