Notes:
Common understorey shrub on island. this is the so called 'Hauraki Gulf form' distinguised by the leaf bases overlapping. This varian is the only one I saw on this island but interestingly enouhg typical M. excelsum supsp. excelsum and subsp. peltatum are present sympatrically on nearby Whenuakura Island.
