Notes:
Plants from this gathering have retained their distinctive low shrub habit over the last 11 years, reaching a maximum of 0.8 × 1.0m. Branches and branchlets glabrous. Leaves glabrous, dull olive green to dark green above (never glossy), pale beneath, usually spotted with Septoria exotica (in wild also). Leaf bud without sinus. Flowers always in one clearly defined season - starting early September, peaking late October but continuing to flower through to December in wet seasons. Flowers in racemes 50-90 mm long. Flower buds dark lavender. Peduncle, rachis and pedicels finely eglandular puberulent. Calyx-lobes glabrous, green, margins pink mostly eglandular hairy - rarely with a few glandular hairs near base. Corolla lobes broadly lanceolate, broadly acute, inrolled, intially lavender, basally fading to white in anthesis, distal portions usually staying washed out lavender, sometimes fading to white. Stamen filaments and style purple, stigma capitate, yellow, anthers purple, pollen cream to off-white. Ovary ovoid to ovoid-cylindrical, dark green, glabrous except for fine eglandular hairs delimiting loculicidal suture. Chromsome Voucher: 2n = 40. In some floral details similar to H. adamsii but distinct from that species by the dull leaves, absence of a leaf bud sinus and by the diploid rather than tetraploid chromosome number.
