Habitat:
Naturalised in gravel footpath adjacent garage. Spreading tufted plant with woody rootstock (very hard to uproot from which small rhizomes may arise (not always), young growth with very hairy stems, leaves dark green to yellow green (sometimes variegated), cyanthia yellow to yellow-green. Seed production copious. This entity is spreading rapidly down Selcourt Street from an unknown source. It first appeared in leaf clogged gutters in 1998, and seed from those plants floated onto adjacent properties during flooding ( Auckland City Council is that good at street maintenance!). Now well established on 18 Jesmond Terrace in cracked concrete of driveway, and so spreading from there on to adjacent properties. Potentially a serious pest.
