Distinctive variant with dull green, often tinged plum-red foliage and erect ± colummnur growth form. Branchlet hairs patent (×20 magnification). Taking 4 years to flower from seed (at least). Flowers with 28-34 stamens arranged [3,4ap-(3,)4,5as]×5pe. Petalloid stamen common. Det. by collector: K. aff. ericoides (K. "Egmont")
