Specimen notes
Supplementary remarks:
Although this material is suggestive in many ways (red pigmentation; some alar groups rather auriculate) of Warnstorfia exannulata, I believe that on balance it is better considered as a strongly pigmented, broad-leaved form of Warnstorfia fluitans. Plants robust, subpinnately branched, vinaceous below, ± green at tips. Stem in cross-section with no hyalodermis seen, distinct central strand. Leaves 3.5-3.8 x c. 0.75-0.8, denticulate at apex, in some leave crenulate to very weakly denticulate near base; alar cells gradually differentiated and forming a medium-sized group of moderately inflated cells, in a few leaves ± auriculate in extreme corners.
