Habitat:
Very open rhododendron forest with some deciduous trees. Clearing.
Notes:
Shrub c. 1.5m high, deciduous, open habit. Bark very tough. Flowers fragrant, rosy-purple; 11-12mm long; lobes 5-6mm long; open widely and ± undulate and somewhat twisted. A single plant of this colour amongst a large number of pale pinkish-mauve-flowered plants.
