Habitat:
In small gully, open place surrounded by Rhododendrons.
Notes:
Shrub c. 1.5m high, deciduous. Flowers very fragrant, in rounded clusters. Perianth tube c. 1cm long, purple outside; lobes c. 8mm long, ovate & undulate, purplish-banded outside, white within, spreading. Common but much used for paper-making.
