Notes:
Cormous herb (corms not coll.). Leaves distichous. Inflor. stem c.1m high. Flowers secund. Sheath pale brownish-yellow. Perianth c.6-6.5cm long, curving forward, orange-scarlet, paling towards base; 3 upper segments 2.2-2.4cm wide, not opening widely; 3 lower segments much smaller and 1-1.5cm wide, ± yellow in lower part. Stamens almost = lower perianth segments. Several similar spontaneous plants, all ± early winter flowering and thus liable to be frosted. Not aware of this species being introduced to this garden.
