Roadside bank, amongst long grass and low shrubs.
Notes:
Cormous herb with ± erect stem to a metre or so (corm not coll). Basal sheaths purple. Flowers distant and secund. Perianth c.9cm long; tube curving forward so that limb faces outwards; limb scarlet except for yellow central & basal area of the 3 smaller reflexed lower segments; upper 3 segs 3.5-4.5cm long; dorsal segment c.2.5cm wide, concave and ± concealing stamens & style. Filaments and style pale reddish. A few plants only. Adventive. Sheets A to B
