Prostrate shrublet; stems partly underground. Leaves glossy green, thick; main veins impressed above & appearing translucent through transmitted light. Fruiting calyx 6 - 8 mm across, thick, white & fleshy; calyx lobes remaining thin towards apex often. Fruit green & ± globular, 3 - 4 mm diam, carpel grooves 4. Common.
