Specimen notes
Supplementary remarks:
According to Ant Kusabs (of WELT) Te Whau is the Maori name for Avondale, an inner suburb of Auckland. Thomas Kirk collected from this locality in Feb-March 1865, and there is a collection of Lindsaea viridis [WELT P006901] made at Te Whau/Avondale on 4 Mar 1865 at WELT which corroborates the interpretation that this collection was made on that date. My earlier suggestion that this collection was from near Kerikeri is incorrect. There are several duplicates of this collection in the Mitten herbarium at NY. There are variously labelled, with some having the locality misinterpreted as “Te Whare” and some lacking full collection data. However, one duplicate is labelled in Kirk’s hand as “197 Dicranum clathratum [nob? Illegible] Te Whau 4/3/65 T. Kirk”

Supplementary remarks:
Probably from Te Whau, N. Auckland L.D. (near Keri Keri
