F2. From a sport on F1. WBB 277. See other unmounted specimens of this collection held at CHR. Provenance: Epilobium billardierianum (north of Porirua Harbour); E. nerterioides (Lower Karori Stream, Wellington). The primary branches of F1 has leaves up to 2cm long. It may flower at this stage and the flowers are self-fertile producing a few seeds in most capsules. The secondary and subsequent branches have small leaves about 3 mm long and form a compact cushion. From this cushion strong growing identical "sports" may arise (16 from 3 plants). These "sports" are self-fertile to about the same extent as the flowers on the primary branches. The "sports" do not revert to the small leaved form which never produces flowers.
