Habitat:
Chionochloa rigida/Festuca matthewsii/Anthoxanthum odoratum tussockland.
Notes:
Sap milky. Leaves not glaucous or glaucous on young leaves (both states). Male plants 106cm diamter, three rosettes, rosettes 68cm diameter; spike 112cm, head 83cm long, 31cm wide, stem 45mm diameter, red-brown. Plants at this altitude resemble Aciphylla aurea at Tekapo; at 1020m plants are larger (Aciphylla aff. horrida size) but stipules are long - appears to be one species that is smaller with increasing altitude.
