Supplementary remarks:
Further North Island Records of Discaria Discaria is found in various places along hte Horowhenua coastline on dry flats inland of the unstable dunes, though never plentiful. In addition to the habitats enumerated in the Botanical Society's Bulletin No. 33, it has been noted south of the Hokio Beach Road, (1)..within the outer dunes, just south of Hokio village; and (2).. further inland, south of the Tirotiro-whetu dune-ridge, about a mile from the beach. Southwards again, there was some growing near the lagoons to the south of the Ohau rivermouth, behind the outer dunes. The best stand of all was oof the end of Oturea Head, not far south of the Manawatu River at the Whirokino Cut. It grew in a warm hollow between two dune-ridges at a distance of about three miles from the coast. Bushes there were in fine shape, about seven feet high. Discaria was growing in association with Pomaderris phylicifolia var. ericifolia in three places: (1)... South of Hokio village; (2)... vivinity of Dune Forsst, norht of Hokio Stream; and (3)... on the low stoney terrace at Ohau. As so much of the Horowhenua coastland is far from public road, there remains much country there which may still be found to be the habitat of either of there plants. I have not seen any live specimens locally from some years. F.C. Duguid [handwriting} Send to D. Margot Forde in comment on article by N. Elder in Wgtn. Bot. Soc. Bulletin No. 33
