Rhizomatous herb; stems remaining below ground. Petioles to greater than 1m high, shining black; lamina shining green above; veins darker green above, black below. Inflorescence less than leaves; stem blackish or rosy. Spathe 21-22cm long; lower closed part purple, more or less angled, about 5.5cm long, blackish-purple outside except near apex when light yellow; expanded part yellow tapering to acuminate apex. Spadix 8.5-9cm long; sterile appendix about 5.5cm long, light yellow. Male portion about 3.5cm long; sterile narrow waist about 2cm long, both pale yellow; female wider portion about 3.5cm long, more or less green.Cultivated on top of stone wall near base of tree.
