Habitat:
Podocarp forest, on old moraine, epiphytic on tree fern.
Notes:
Young sapling about 60-70cm high with single stem. Juvenile shoots more or less pendulous with bright green leaves, very soft to the touch i.e. in contrast to the similar-looking but harsh-feeling juvenile rimu. Apparently rare.
