Habitat:
Cultivated in open place near road.
Notes:
Tree about 13-14m high with stout pinkish-red trunk. Habit rather open and branches widespreading. Young buds shining deep reddish-brown. Needles twisted, more or less green. Old cones from ground. Atypical for Pinus sylvestris in New Zealand because of habit and leaf colour. See Cone Collection.
