This I think is about the commonest Allium locally; I have always considered it to be A. [Allium] triquetrum: It prefers damp shady situations & rich soil to do best, plantations, rubbish dumps & hedgerows etc - In hard dry exposed soil it does not seem to thrive or abound; noticed abundantly round Remuera, Parnell, Purewa Bush, Orakei, Epsom, Grafton Gully; & in fact nearly everywhere in the Auckland city area; It overuns many damp shady gardens:
