Habitat:
Open place in front of shrubbery, in mown area of grass.
Notes:
Rhizomatous herb but the short rhizome not collected. Acaulous. Leaves with petiole, sheath, young lamina and midrib and veins beneath and often above on mature lamina dark shining purple; mature lamina otherwise dark greenish above and paler purplish-green beneath. Peduncle and tubular part of spathe shining deep purple except for pale greenish band at spathe constriction between tubular and opening deep yellow part. Spathe 13cm long; yellow distal part 9cm long, opening but not unfolding. Spadix 6cm long; basal female part green, 2cm long; intermediate male part pale yellow, 1cm long; distal sterile appendix yellow, 3cm long. Several plants scattered in vicinity, others in shade and sterile. Spontaneous adventive for many years. Sheets A to B.
