Notes:
Patch about 20m diameter. Rhizomatous. Stems to 1m tall. Leaves with dense branched hairs on undersides (much longer than in Mentha suaveolens) and long unbranched hairs on upper sides (sparser but longer than in Mentha suaveolens. Peppermint smell when crushed (stronger than in Mentha suaveolens). Flowering. Common.
