Notes:
Vine, tending to smother vegetation by its dense foliage. Flowers yellow, 1 c. 8 mm across, ± patent, obovate, withering by late afternoon. Fruit 5-7 x 2.5-3 cm (including beak) ± ovoid yellow, pendent, with 9 longitudinal rows of soft spiny ribs, when mature dehiscing to form 3 valves which reflex to expose the glossy scarlet-coated seeds c. 1 cm long and ± ellipsoid. An abundant species. Very common.
