Base of hill, forest margin, in shade mainly (front exposed).
Notes:
Thicket-forming shrub c. 4 m high, less where more open. Leaves dark glossy above, pale beneath. No flowers or fruit at this time of year. Local name given as "menemene". Said to be common in the modified forest on the slope above.
