Small bush c. 1 m high, spreading. Stems tough; shoots dark reddish-purple. Leaves fresh green, dull. Bracts very laciniate, 3.5-4 cm long to tip of long acuminate apex, outline ovate, pink-flushed. Probably = to Gossypium var. taitense (Parl.) Roberty. Calyx small; lobes prominent, acuminate. Corolla c. 5 cm long, pink when collected (late afternoon), presumably yellow when first out; no basal dark blotch. A few old fruits, one of which had a seed or two covered in white cotton with tuft of short brown fuzz at one end. One plant at this site but a small group at the north end of the ridge < 100 m away.
