Coastal coral sand, behind beach.
Notes:
Small tree 4-5 m high, widespreading, pachycaulous with leaves in clusters towards branch ends. Long prop roots present. Leaves bluish-green when young, green and often curving downwards later. Fruit syncarp pendulous towards maturity, at first surrounded by white bracts. Syncarp to c. 18 x 16 cm, subglobular to almost globular, weighing several kilos. Phalanges deep green in upper part, yellowish-orange in tapering lower part, ribbed. Apex very irregular and the segments denoted by grooves, to c. 4.5 cm across at widest point. Phalanges collected from syncarp c.11 cm diameter. Abundant in this area.
