Coastal forest margin, fairly exposed site.
Notes:
Arborescent plant with short stout woody trunk c. 0.75 m high. Terminal crown of leaves, dark glossy green above and below, very coriaceous; midrib whitish. Female sporophylls horizontal, finely greyish-brown, tomentulose. Some fruits abortive; mature fruits very hard, c. 6 x 5.5 cm on the somewhat flattened sides; shape rather irregular. Fairly common but scattered.
