Coastal forest on lower terrace, with tall emergent trees.
Notes:
Small tree with stout or massive trunk a metre or so high. Leaves with very hard and woody petiole and rachis. Leaflets very coriaceous, dark glossy green above, revolute. Male strobili on another plant to c. 30 cm long, pale brownish-grey (not collected). Seed c. 5 cm x 3.8-4 cm, broad ovoid-ellipsoid, pale brown, heavy. Locally very common and sometimes in the open and sometimes in the understorey.
