Notes:
Smallish tree 5-6 m high with dense almost horizontal canopy. Young shoots quadrangular with sharp angles. Young leaves reddish-brown and very glossy above, paler beneath, mature leaves coriaceous, glossy dark green above. Fruit to c. 5.5 x 5 cm, very broadly ovoid, shining red when mature; flesh white, c. 7 mm thick, tasting of sour apples. Seeds large, to 2.8 x 2.8 cm, white coated.
