Notes:
Erect herb with short thick pseudostem. Leaves standing erect; petiole and blade shining green and and standing c. 1.5 m high; surface undulate. Cultivated as minor crop with Xanthosoma. Inflor. on peduncles c. 20 cm long often less, ± fragrant. Spathe 28 - 29 x c. 7 cm, basal 5 cm green & not expanding, remainder creamy white, turning pale yellow with age, expanding & soon reflexing strongly, shining; apiculus c. 1 cm long. Spadix 27 - 28 x c. 2 cm in lower part; lowest 5 cm = the female portion, remainder mainly exposed and with sterile portion c. 1 cm long separating ♀ from ♂ above; male portion c. 7 cm long; appendix c. 17 cm long, cream, gradually tapering to blunt apex.
