This is an unusual form of M. gracile, but I do not know of anything else that it could be. After brief consideration, I do not think that it deserves description. The colour is more yellow-green than I associate with this species and the plants are relatively small in size. More importantly the leaf subulae are very strongly developed and thickened in appearance with the “laminal cells” rather irregular in shape, mostly longer than wide and from 6-15 (-18) μm in greater dimension. In cross-section the subulae is clearly bistratose in the “lamina” and multi-stratose where filled by the costa.
I note that AJF 11291 (CHR 514619) from the same locality and quite likely from the same Cornyocarpus trunk is more representative of M. gracile.
