Notes:
Large succulent shrub about 1.5m high, widespreading; habit dense. Leaves to at least 50cm long x 8cm wide at base, clasping stem, to about 1.7cm thick at base, curving, with antrorse marginal yellow-green spines. Inflorescence erect, to at least 70m high at early anthesis. Bracts green to orange, more or less triangular on lower part of scape and to at least 3.5cm long, those amongst flowers 2-2.5cm long and more or less elliptic. Perianth about 4cm long; outer segments linear, orange-red or red, free to base; inner segments equal to outer, linear-elliptic, whitish with red central band; all tepals with greenish tips. Stamens and style yellow; latter nearly equal to tepals. Anthers orange. Sheets A - C.
