bare earth of newly cut through road. Geology: peat over shingle of quartz and granite. Podsol profile with a distinct iron pan. Poorly draining. Originally Manuka.
Notes:
Community: pioneer roadside weeds Gnaphalium purpureum - common, sedges, ?bartsia (yellow), Holcus. Occasional in bare soil.
