Supplementary remarks:
cf. Simpson's specimen from Rough Peaks, Lake Wakatipu, which look the same as this (B.D. 27546).
W. laxa may be merely a habitat form; if not, "Rough Peaks" is an additional locality.

Subsheet:
Sheets A to C.
Type:
NOT A TYPE of Wahlenbergia laxa Simpson, Trans. & Proc. Roy. Soc. New Zealand 79: 430 (1952). The protologue does not state that the type is a cultivated specimen. Simpson was careful to specify this for other new species in the same 1952 paper. This specimen could be chosen as a neotype if there is no wild collection fitting the protologue.
Allan, H.H. Fl. New Zealand 1: 792 (1961) attempted to lectotypify CHR 50061 B.
Petterson, J.A. New Zealand J. Bot. 35: 38 (1997) cites CHR 50061 as the holotype.
