Habitat:
Ocean side, Cocos forest clearing near margin, on coral sand.
Notes:
Long trailing main stems, tough epidermis, bearing strongly lobed trifoliate leaves. Lateral shoots ± erect and with unlobed or shallowly lobed leaves. Plant ± mat-forming. Sepals 12-14-(15) x c. 2 mm, linear, pale yellow. Petals yellow, 8-9 x 3.5-4 mm, oblanceolate. Fruit 13-15 mm diameter, including the soft spines, globose, green. Locally abundant.
