Notes:
Stems tough and fibrous, long trailing, mostly prostrate but with short lateral branches ± erect. Vegetative shoots mostly with leaves 3-lobed (i.e. main trailing stems), adult shoots ± unlobed. Flowers opening late in afternoon. Sepals 13-15 x 2 mm, linear, pale yellow. Petals 8-9 x 4-5 mm, ± oblanceolate, yellow (deep). Fruits globular, pale green, covered with soft spines. Locally abundant, often forming dense carpets, and individual stems trailing for many metres over the sand.
