Notes:
Herb with long trailing stems, very tough, lateral branches rather short and ± ascending often. Trailing shoots usually with prominently lobed leaves, lateral shoots with reproductive parts with unlobed or very shallowly lobed leaves. Forming large mats and abundant in clearings and open places in forest. Flowers opening in late afternoon, withering by morning. Sepals 13-14 mm long, narrowly linear, pale yellow. Petals 10-11 x 4-5 mm, elliptic-oblanceolate, yellow, with rounded apical area. Fruit a globular burr with soft spines, light green.
