Small tree c. 3 m high with simple, stout, soft-wooded trunk. Leaves forming a large terminal crown; lamina ± glaucescent beneath. Flowers on long downwards curving "peduncles" and short lateral branched peduncles. Corolla white; tube 2-2.2 cm long, slender and widening slightly towards apex; lobes 1.4-1.5 cm x c. 5 mm, ± oblong-elliptic, curled and twisted somewhat like a propeller blade. Stamens with short densely hairy filament and anthers c. 2 mm long, exserted. Flowers, fragrant. Male tree. A typical male ninita (paw paw).
