Notes:
Rhizomatous herb forming a large clump, several metres long. Leaves and stems to c. 2 m high. Stems rather flattened. Leaves glossy, very dark green above and curving downwards. Inflorescence stem curving downwards, purple and puberulent. Pedicels 5-8 mm, red. Bracts c. 2.5 cm long, waxy white with pink apex, especially the lobes, inflated. Outer perianth whorl c. 2 cm long, pale waxy pink with darker apex. Inner perianth whorl 3.5-4.5 cm long, similar colour. Labellum c. 4.5 cm long, naviculate, reddish-brown with yellow towards margin and apex. Stamen/style column white, curving. Almost certainly a relic of cultivation.
