Margin of small grassy (mown) area, just above stream.
Notes:
Clump-forming herb, rhizomatous, ginger-scented. Inflorescence c. 1 m high, the leaves beneath tending distichous and shining above. Bracts strongly overlapping, reddish towards base. Flowers very fragrant. Perianth tube very slender, c. 10 cm long; pale green sheath at base. Perianth mostly pale yellow; middle segment c. 6 cm long & c. 4.3 cm wide, bilobed, deeper yellow area in middle and base; lateral segments c. 5 cm long, elliptic-spathulate. Stamens pale yellow filaments. A single clump and most probably a cultivation relic. Rare on Rarotonga.
